Coordinate Entertainers with Your DJ

If you are throwing a celebration for a wedding, graduation, milestone birthday party, anniversary or other, you may consider hiring entertainers. Of course hiring a dancer such as a Hula Dancer, Belly Dancer, or Samba dancer will engage your guests completely, you may consider adding other types of entertainers. Most large parties include a DJ. If you plan on hiring dancers, magicians, food vendors, balloon artists, musicians, or face painters include your DJ on the timeline of events.

A sample timeline for a child’s birthday party may look like this:

Music plays throughout the event by DJ.

2:00 PM – Event begins. Guests are greeted

2:30 PM – 3:15 PM Hula dancer performs and includes audience participation

3:30 PM – 4:30 PM Balloon artist creates animals for kids

4:30 PM – 5:00 PM Hula Hoop contest and dance contest led by the DJ

5:00 – 5:30 PM Dinner is served

5:30 PM Birthday cake and presents opened

Inform the DJ of the schedule so he can cut off the music for any entertainer that is bringing their own music. Also, inquire if the performer will be allowed to use the sound system ahead of time. The entertainer might bring their own sound system, but generally if you have a DJ already at your event, see if they will generously help the performer out. Their equipment will most likely better the performer’s. If the performer wants to use the DJ’s system what type of system is it? Will the DJ need the music ahead of time to load or does a simple input connector work?

Having your entertainers and DJ coordinate will make the event go smoothly and create a comradery between the different vendors working at your occasion. A positive energy when people work together help create a lasting and memorable atmosphere. Good luck at your event and don’t forget to book as early as possible for any event.
